Geofencing is a location-based method of taking actions. Geofencing is used in the Smart Home area. A location (for example a building) is defined with a radius. If you leave this radius, an action is automatically triggered by the smart home system in the building.
This can be, for example, activating the security system, switching off the lights or lowering the heating. There are many possibilities here. If you return to the defined radius, the actions are undone and the comfort settings for the building are activated.
In the Smart Home System from the thermostat manufacturer tado°, a distinction is made here between “Home” (within the radius) and “Away” (outside the radius).
